Slavery - Violet

Slavery. Something we thought we left in the past. Slavery is bigger then its ever been. The number of slaves is 2x the amount that were enslaved in the 1800s. It estimated that over 21 people are enslaved in our society, including 5.5 million children. Nowadays slavery exists in all forms. Human trafficking, Bondage labour, forced labour, descent - based slavery, child slavery and forced or early marriage.

Slavery is not gone. It is really sad that the people who are the most exposed to slavery are people who are living in poverty and have limited job opportunities and are more deceptive to accept work with out knowing what they are really signing up for seeing as a lot of these people are illiterate. Slavery is most likely to happen in places where the law is weak. This is one of the reasons I hate slavery is because the people that force others into slavery are just praying on the poor and weak for their own personal gain. This is why we need to help.

It doesn't matter what your age, race, religion no one deserves to be a slave. Everyone deserves the chance at life. I think the that saddens me the most is that people are so unaware of modern day slavery and have no idea the rate that is happening. I think the more people know about it and the more awareness their is the more likely we will be able to abolish slavery for good.
